build the virtual private practice of your dreams
travel therapist coaching
You want to travel more but have no clue how to set your business up for this kind of lifestyle.
You scroll instagram and see all those nomads living their best life on a beach or skiing in the Alps.
Maybe you get jealous and feel like your career choice as a therapist limits your ability to have this kind of freedom to work and travel.
Or maybe you have heard about other therapists traveling and running their private practices at the same time but have no clue how they got there. You are anxious and uncertain about how you could navigate all the practical and emotional barriers to become a travel mental health therapist.
empowering therapists to live freely.
Everbe offers therapists one-on-one coaching to help you build a private practice that brings your traveling dreams to life.
Hi, I am Dr. Ann Krajewski and I am a traveling psychologist and founder of my virtual therapy private practice, Everbe. I didn’t start off as a traveling psychologist and so know all about the anxiety of the uncertainty around all the business (and personal!) issues that come along with this kind of lifestyle.
Steps towards becoming a traveling mental health therapist
Identify your starting point
Figuring out where you are now is an important part in developing a private practice that supports your dreams. Are you still in school? Do you have an insurance based practice? Are you at an agency but want to go out on your own? Do you know if you want to travel internationally or within your home country? Do you want to travel full time or have a home base that you work from?
Develop a game plan
You want to be thoughtful about this kind of change (or beginning if you will develop a travel therapist private practice from the start). Depending on where you are in your private practice journey, the steps you take will look very different. This part may be research heavy. Can you see your insurance patients overseas? Does your licensing board allow you to be out of the state? Even figuring out practical details like how you will receive mail is an important thing to figure out. Figuring out the steps you need to take and figuring out a timeline can help alleviate anxiety!
Start the process
Once you figure out your starting point and develop a game plan, its time to start making moves! This might be telling your patients you will be switching to a virtual practice, moving your things to your parents or to a storage unit, or maybe selling your car! Or maybe its time to tell your family and friends. This part can be a lot and you will probably have all the feels! It’s normal for you and those in your life (patients, family and friends included!) to have a variety of reactions in this stage. You might begin to doubt the process but its important to remember the reason you started making these big changes!
Learn to flourish as a nomad
You finally did it. All of the hard work and you have started! While dreams do come true, there is still a lot that can come up while living your best life. Any path we take can come with its challenges, and being a nomad is no exceptions. Change is so inherent in this lifestyle. Even if one day you choose to not be nomad and resettle in your home country or a new country - there is still a lot that can come along with that!
